"Pianissimo Forte" presents fascinating works of Sira Trinkler and Jess de Zilva.

The title of this show refers to the works presented. They explore a wide range of expressions, from subtle and restrained to powerful and forceful. Pianissimo Forte suggests a subtle balance and a dialogue between the extremes of volume and intensity.

‘Education’ is from a series in which mother and daughter, Dorothea and Claire, are portrayed. “working with people who have a real and deep relationship, have that intense emotional connection, personal and combined histories and time, and who represent generations and physical change ( … ) all of this provided a strong basis to work from.”

OPEN STUDIOS

This is an event programmed along the exhibition ‘Form, Farbe, Fläche’. It will not be my usual studio setting but held in Liechtenstein. It will be an ‘open house event’ in my case and an opportunity to see work that nobody has seen outside of the home. Some new and some real oldies and some works that belong to the family collection. It is a chance to see the development of my work over the past 20+ years.

OFFENE ATELIERS

ON THE COVER

My painting One of those days is on the front cover of the British Journal of Psychiatry.

April 2022 / volume 220, No 4 (Cambridge university press)

The journal is essential reading for psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, and all professionals with an interest in mental health. The print version of BJPsych is sent to all members of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, which includes most psychiatrists working in the UK. There is also a substantial international subscriber base.

I'm so pleased about this, as the piece is such an introspection item and would make a good starting point for a paper on what constitutes personality, authenticity and a wide range of related topics.

EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

508 Gallery, 508 Kings Road, London SW10 0DL

28th March – 4th April 2022

The phrase ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ is attributed to Irish novelist Margaret Hungerford – to describe the fact that beauty is subjective, that what appears beautiful to one person may not be beautiful to another.

This exhibition aims to celebrate how ArtCan artists capture beauty – whether that be physical beauty, natural beauty, something in between or something else entirely – bringing together a diverse and inclusive spectrum of works and creating a conversation about how societal ideals of beauty are defined, challenged and redefined.

FROM ARTCAN WITH LOVE

zoom event 23rd June 2021, 6.30-8pm UK time

From ArtCan With Love is a virtual exhibition of Canvas Board Postcard sized artworks created as unique, original works by ArtCan Member Artists. All works are priced the same at a very affordable £40.00 each including P&P.

As a non-profit organisation entirely volunteer led, ArtCan do not take commission during our exhibitions; instead selected artists pay a small set fee towards the costs of putting on a show. We aim to keep these costs to a minimum by getting sponsorship wherever possible and by raising funds through fundraising activities. 100% of the profits from this event will go to fund future ArtCan exhibitions.

I hope you attend this event with us and we appreciate your support in enabling ArtCan to continue to deliver vibrant, international exhibition opportunities which, in turn, help contemporary artists develop their careers.

KULTURKANAL LIECHTENSTEIN

I am so very excited to be participating in this project in Liechtenstein with my painting One of those days. The department for culture and the Foundation for culture (Kulturstiftung Liechtenstein) have collaborated on this to get it off the ground.

The exhibition runs 16th July - 27th 2020 August at Peter-Kaiser-Platz in Vaduz, Liechtenstein.

“Spring 2020 was a difficult time for professional creatives. Commissions and sales fell and artists’ fees became void. Covid-19 spread and dominated public perception. With the gradual return to normality it is now possible to hand art its place back again. the project KULTURKANAL aims to contribute to this by presenting contemporary visual art from and in Liechtenstein at Peter-Kaiser-Platz in Vaduz. Professional visual artists were invited to provide a piece on the theme of ‘Solidarity’ for this poster campaign.

You can find further information on the artists and their works, as well as order your favourite poster sized 40 x 60 cm on www.kulturkanal.li  “
